About Us
Junius Films
Junius Films (formerly BHAG Productions) is a women-owned independent production company dedicated to uplifting powerful stories. They take pride in championing writers and directors, offering hands-on production support that helps bring bold, independent visions to life. Junius Films also produces their own in-house projects.
Grace Petro and Sydney Day met in film school in 2018 and the rest is history. Since, they have consistently been on the journey to literally defy independent cinema.
Sydney Day
Producer / Director / Co-Founder
Sydney Day (born February 7, 1997) is a Los Angeles-born producer and director known for being the calm one — until she isn’t.
As co-founder of Junius Films alongside Grace Petro, Day has developed and produced a number of narrative and documentary projects, including the feature films GROW UP and FOR HER, both distributed worldwide by BayView Entertainment.
If Petro is the emotional voltage, Day is the structural spine. Known for sharp instincts, long-game thinking, and the ability to actually execute ambitious ideas, she has a reputation for quietly making very difficult productions feel organized, intentional, and (almost) under control. She balances creative risk with disciplined follow-through and somehow still keeps morale high.
Outside of film, Day is deeply inspired by travel, wellness, and movement. She’s often mapping out the next destination, flowing through a yoga class, or grounding herself in routines that keep her centered in an industry that rarely is. Her fun, adventurous spirit brings levity to high-pressure sets and fuels her collaborative leadership style.
When she’s not building films from scratch, she’s likely planning the next ambitious slate, binging true-crime docs with her beloved cats, or booking a flight somewhere warm.

Grace Petro
Writer / Director / Co-Founder
Grace Petro (born July 21, 1999 and very much a Cancer) is a Los Angeles-based writer and director known for emotionally raw, character-driven storytelling and an alarming willingness to do whatever it takes to get the shot. Known to write scores and edit features in her free time — Grace is bonafide chaos when it comes to chasing her dreams.
Raised in small-town Virginia, she moved to Los Angeles at 17 with no backup plan and has since written, directed, and produced a number of narrative and documentary projects. Her work centers complicated female protagonists, moral gray areas, and the kind of psychological tension that makes some people squirm. Leads with precision and grit, fiercely protective of her cast and crew — the kind of director who will take the hit before they do.
She co-founded Junius Films with Sydney Day, producing numerous short films and two features, GROW UP and FOR HER, both distributed worldwide by BayView Entertainment. She is known for building projects from the ground up, self-supporting her work, and refusing to wait around to be chosen.
Petro’s directing style is performance-first, emotionally precise, and occasionally powered by pure spite and bean burritos.
In addition to narrative filmmaking, she is involved in humanitarian-focused storytelling, using film to spotlight social impact initiatives and underserved communities.
Outside of film, she reads constantly, walks her dogs like it’s therapy, works out to stay sane, spends time with her husband, Dilly, and listening to podcasts.
